Features Explained

All WordPress hosting plans come with full backups and a free shared SSL.  Video sites need to be on the MIGHTY plan or larger due to resources required. All hosted sites can have a contact form but newsletter forms are a whole different beast. You can manage your newsletter that we setup on your site and works with MailChimp. MailChimp is free unless you have over 12,000 subscribers.

The MINI plan is suitable for small websites such as personal sites, blogs, profile page(s) etc. MIGHTY plan is best for more popular sites that have a bit more activity. MONSTROUS plan is for sites that are quite popular and need to simply make sure they have enough resources to run their site. You can always contact us for our suggestion.  If in doubt, just start with the MIGHTY plan. We also have annual plans for discounted prices.

So Why Use WordPress to Create Websites? (like this one)

fully managed wordpress hosting

There are several very popular companies that use WordPress which can all be found here. These sites should make most assume that WordPress is a safe and fast Content Management System if kept up to date.

Security

Security is one feature that too often becomes neglected and results in WordPress sites becoming infected with malware. This is usually the result of free themes that are intentionally infected or plugins that are from unknown publishers and WordPress itself discovering vulnerabilities and issuing updates but are not updated by the web host or user. Unsecured and out-dated plugins can gain a lot of access to a site thereby providing an easy opportunity for a hacker.

Due to (non-managed) WordPress sites constantly being hacked may lead some to believe that WordPress is insecure. This is not true. This is due to the fact that there are so many un-managed WordPress sites now that they will constantly be mentioned in hacker activities.  This is also a result of many hosts that fail to update and secure their WordPress sites as they should for their clients. Some may also still believe that WordPress is a blog-only CMS which it originally was and certainly still can be used for. But with the plethora of beautiful designs, plugins and customization now available it can many times even be difficult to distinguish between a WordPress website and another site built using something else entirely. Fully managed WordPress hosting should always include updates, backups, and security.

Mobile

First of all, mobile is essential for a website. Many WordPress themes are designed with mobile device screen resolutions in mind and are automatically able to adjust the website’s design in real-time as it detects different screen resolutions. Because of this, even while changing an internet browser window size on a desktop computer can the user see the design of the website change automatically. A similar thing happens on a mobile device which has less screen real estate.

SEO

WordPress is also very search engine friendly. Therefore, even if the basic Search Engine Optimization tips are being implemented, good search engine rankings will be noticeable. There is even a popular SEO plugin called Yoast to help with this.

Plug-ins

While there has been “an app for that” in the smartphone world there is in almost every case also a “plug-in for that”. Because WordPress is such a popular CMS there is a very large number of plug-ins available that provide solutions for common and popular every day needs to specific requirements that may even be industry specific. There is not only one shopping cart system but several as well as visitor stat plug-ins, portfolio management plug-ins, membership account plug-ins etc. Many are also free while others come at a small cost.

In many cases, however, users just want an easy to manage website that they or the host can host, design and secure and if that happens to be fully managed WordPress hosting then that works for them. As of September 2017, WordPress powers 28% of the internet with 50,000 sites being added at WordPress alone. That should mean WordPress is doing something right.

Your Business Defines Your Design, Designs Don’t Define Your Business

Many proprietary and cheap do-it-yourself web design services often times do not comply with industry design standards so they all show up differently in various web browsers such as Safari, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox etc. and are actually not mobile friendly, even though they may even appear to be.

A good comparison is when logos are designed by professionals and those that are not. A logo is not just text next to a small image, but how many logos have you seen that look like that? Too many. Your company defines your logo, your logo doesn’t define your company. Work with someone who can work with you to accomplish that. The same goes for your website.

All too often website owners view templates as a design that can define what their business, hobby, passion or local blog’s mood and theme is going to be. Using the super inexpensive do-it-yourself templates for a web page design will do this. And, you will end up with a design that looks remarkably similar to a few million other sites out there and it will have defined your site for you at the same time. You don’t want your online presence to take this route. Hosting And Designs L.L.C. certainly works with WordPress themes if you choose to do so and those of you on a small budget will. But let us guide you in the right direction first before taking the plunge into template or theme designs.

You want to make a good first impression on your visitors just like a logo. Don’t ruin that by going the super cheap route to save some money at the start but end up hurting your online image year after year.

The old saying; you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover does not apply in the web design world one bit. Web designs are always judged by their “cover” and it needs to appeal to your visitors of different backgrounds, devices, and expectations every single time.
